Hi everyone,

Thanks Patrick for reminding me to update the website.

It has been one and a half month since I returned to Malaysia.  It has been a really eventful return with many praise and prayer items on my mind.

Firstly, God must be praise for preparing the way for my return.  I am so very touched and thankful for the really warm welcome I received from everyone.  I also met with the elders of JIC and had a very good time of fellowship with them as we prayerfully consider God's future direction for me.  There was much encouragement and unity of mind in terms of me having the burden of God's call to develop training material for the church.  This will be what I am commiting to do for now even as we continue to listen to God's guidance and further confirmation.

I am really excited about working together with the elders and others in the church ... each fulfilling their respective roles as gifted by the Holy Spirit for the common good of God's people.  I pray that I may be very humble in this exercise before God and His servants.

So much for now ... God bless you all and I ask that we may praise and give thanks to God together, even as you pray for me.

Hi everyone,

Been awhile since I last updated ... end of year ... lots of things to do and many things to give thanks to the Lord for.  In fact, many things to thank God for throughout the year ... and end of the year is a good time for reflection and to remember God's goodness in the midst of both good and bad times.

As I type this ... it is raining cats and dogs outside ... glad I am warm and cosy in my room.

My last week in the college, our year end celebration is over ... have only 8 more assignments to complete before I finish all my requirements ... have made many new, very good and strong friendships ... been very blessed and pray that I too can be a blessing to others ... was encouraged by many of the members in the church I attended who gave me very warm and appreciative words towards my participation in the ministries in the church ... learnt heaps from the classes and worked some of the lessons learnt to be part of my life and attitudes ... God is really awesome as He works in all circumstances to work all things together for good ... I am so privileged to be part of His work such that His name is glorified in everything ... Praise the Lord!

I know it is short ... but I am really thankful even as I look forward to returning to Malaysia.

God bless and see you all soon

Hi everyone,

End of year approaching ... looking forward to meeting all of you back home.

Do pray for me here ... really need it as the year comes to an end.  Have many mixed feelings ... will miss many people here ... have also learnt many things here ... have also changed a lot, in some ways ... I suppose that happens when God not only opens His word to a person but also ... how should I put it ... have me go through a really big roller coaster ride.  I know it is perfectly safe (because God is always in control) ... can be exciting ... but it can also at times make one "sick".

The only difference is that a roller coaster goes nowhere ... God on the other hand ... works all things together for good for those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28).  Truly, I need to learn to rely more on His wisdom and direction.

Well ... so much for now.

God bless

Hi everyone,

I'm sure most of you may have seen this before ... but it is still good reading.

Carrots, Eggs and Coffee Beans

A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life, and how things were hard for her.  She did not know how she was going to make it, and wanted to give up.  She was tired of fighting and struggling.  It seemed as one problem was solved a new one arose.

Her mother took her to the kitchen.  She filled three pots with water.  In the first pot, she placed carrots, in the second, she placed eggs and the last she placed ground coffee beans.

She let them sit and boil without saying a word.  In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners.  She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl.  She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl.  Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl.

Turning to her daughter, she asked, “Tell me what you see.”

“Carrots, eggs and coffee,” she replied.  She brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots.  She did and noted that they got soft.

She then asked her to take the egg and break it.  After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard boiled eggs.  Finally she asked her to smell and sip the coffee.  The daughter smiled, as she smelled and tasted its sweet aroma.  The daughter then asked, “What’s the point, mother?”

The mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity – boiling water – but each reacted differently.  The carrot went in strong, hard and unrelenting.  However, after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak.

The egg had been fragile.  Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior.  But, after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened.

The ground coffee beans were unique, however.  After they were in the boiling water they had changed the water.  “Which are you?” she asked her daughter.  “When trials and adversity knock on your door, how do you respond?  Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?”

Think of this: Am I a carrot that seems strong, but with pain and adversity, do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength?

Am I the egg that starts with a passive heart, but changes with the heat?  Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a break up, a financial hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff?  Does my shell look the same, but on the inside, am I bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and a hardened heart?

Or am I like the coffee bean?  The bean actually changes the hot water, the very circumstance that brings the pain.  When the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavour.  If you are like the bean, when things are at its worst, you become better and change the situation around you.  When the hours are the darkest and trials are their greatest, do you elevate to another level?  How do you handle adversity?  Like the carrot, the egg, or the coffee bean?

Don’t tell God how big your storm is.  Tell the storm how big your God is!

Hi everyone,

The last week of holidays ... will start classes again on Monday ... it will be the last term before completing all my studies.

They say that the last term is usually the lightest term ... hope there are less assignments as I still have a few assignments to catch up on.

I have been enjoying doing the assignments even though they are difficult ... God has been teaching me many things and it is so good to be closer drawn to Him.  Do pray that I will be able to be consistent and complete all the assignments.

Am also beginning to plan for a short holiday since my younder brother is coming to NZ at the end of the year.  Will go round different places in NZ to just experience the beautiful country and marvel at what God has given us.

God bless
